Mother Earth News Homesteaders of the Year 2013. The Freedman family was one of six families across the country to receive this beautiful honor. Community building and self reliance: The 2013 MOTHER EARTH NEWS Homesteaders of theYear believe in learning by doing, and open their homes and farms to teach modern homesteading skills and promote community-building.

The 2013 August-September issue of the magazine includes an article featuring six homesteading families from across the USA, including ours. The path toward sustainable living can lead in so many different directions, but a common theme is a lifestyle that is fun and interesting and full. Enjoy your process!
